We have openings in all age categories from infants to school age. For school age children, make sure that you have a reservation for our holiday and summer camp programs. When grade school is in session we transport our K-6 children to local elementary schools, typically Adams and Webster. If you like what you see on our web site please stop by for a tour, we’d love to greet you.
Quality First at The Sycamore School
The Sycamore School has a goal of continuous improvement. We initially worked with the Arizona Self Study Project for two years to help us prepare for national accreditation. Now we are a participant in the Quality First Program introduced by First Things First. For us this means a trained coach to help us evaluate our programs for children birth through age five, funding to make improvements, child care health consultation and T.E.A.C.H. ® Arizona Scholarships to enhance program improvement. Our goal remains to apply for certification with the National Association of Childcare (NAC).
Programs for Infant/Toddler Care (PITC)
Sycamore staff have completed an 18 month Partners for Quality training program sponsored by Child & Family Resources. The training included two sections each with 32 hours of training and 40 hours of mentoring. PITC is a responsive, relationship based approach to infant/toddler care and is based on sound developmental research, theory and practice. The PITC program focuses on primary care, small groups, continuity of care, individualized schedules and routines, inclusion and culture.
First Things First
First Thing First was created in November 2006 when Arizona voters passed a citizen's initiative that funds quality early childhood development and health. First Things First is organized as a state Board and 31 Regional Councils who are partners in laying the foundation for a lifetime of well being and success for the over 600,000 children five and under in Arizona. First Things First is focussed on areas that have significant impact on young children:
* Quality early care, health and education
* Parent and family information and support
* Professional development of early care and education providers
* Coordination, documentation and evaluation of programs and services
